DECARBONIZATION PLAN UNVEILED: EMISSIONS TO BE SLASHED BY A THIRD BY 2028!

  • Juni 7, 2024

On Wednesday, June 5th, coinciding with World Environment Day, the inauguration of the new logistics hub in Lonigo, Vicenza province, served as a significant platform for the presentation of Bracchi’s 2024-2028 decarbonization plan.

The event titled „Road to Green: an increasingly sustainable logistics“ saw the participation of numerous professionals, industry insiders, representatives of the economic and financial world, the press and institutions.

In the welcome message, CEO Umberto Ferretti announced the company’s new green turn, with the installation of solar panels, the development of new partnerships and the purchase of 100% energy produced from renewable sources. An important contribution is made by the use of HVO biofuel, a latest generation product that guarantees a significant reduction in the carbon footprint of heavy transport. Already today almost 70% of Bracchi’s national transports are powered by HVO.

The supply chain industry is one of the leading contributors to greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption worldwide. In response, Bracchi has decided to evolve by defining a decarbonization plan that will initially have a 5-year timeframe, from 2024 to 2028, with the goal of achieving a 33% reduction in emissions over the plan, or approximately 7.5% per year, compared to the baseline carbon footprint measured at the end of 2023.

In his speech, Bracchi Chairman Paolo Scaroni, who also serves as Chairman of Enel and AC Milan, addressed crucial issues such as the importance of reducing CO2 emissions in logistics processes and the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition.

Bracchi has embarked on a virtuous path to reduce CO2 emissions of its activities“ explains President Paolo Scaroni, „thus also contributing to the decarbonization goals that our client companies are setting for themselves“.

During the event, a round table produced an interesting exchange of ideas between the academic and corporate world on the topics of measuring environmental impact, market demands, and the challenges in decarbonizing the logistics supply chain. The debate was moderated by journalist Maurizio Melis of Radio24 and featured Fabrizio Dallari, Full Professor at LIUC – Università Cattaneo, Giacomo Fontana, Planning & Fulfillment Manager of ABB, Stefan Rainer, Chief Sales Officer of Oberalp Group, and Pierpaolo Campolonghi, Group Logistics Manager of Pettenon Cosmetics.

The event was not just an opportunity to cut the ribbon and unveil the new logistics center, but it also represented a truly significant moment for Bracchi, confirming the company’s commitment to the transition towards a more sustainable and responsible logistics.
